The Balgowan Soccer Clinic was set up in October 1998 to start coaching children from Balgowan School. It has now developed into a local coaching school for children from a wide catchment area centered on Beckenham.
It is a lively enjoyable atmosphere where the basic skills of football are taught, with the added extra of allowing children to experiment and have fun while learning the rules of football and techniques.
It was formed by Andy and Nick Craig who are both FA qualified to Level 3 standard. The clinic is situated at the Kent County Cricket Ground, Worsley Bridge Road, Beckenham, Kent where we have access to Astroturf as well as grass pitches for coaching and matches. The coaching school runs every Sunday morning during the school term from ages 4 to 11. The times are as follows:
9am – 10am Primary school years 4, 5 and 6
10am – 11am Primary school years 2 and 3
11am – 12pm Primary school years Reception and Year 1

The main aim is for the children to have fun and is for all abilities and sexes. As the children reach an appropriate age, they can if they wish join teams in a local league. This is not compulsory and we only suggest it for those children who we feel can deal with the added pressures of weekly competitive football. This venture started nine years ago and we initially received a grant from the Football Foundation to help with this. We currently have seven teams in different age groups.

Each term we run a tournament called The World Cup which helps encourage a little competitive nature without the pressures of winning at all costs. We are therefore allowing children to develop at their own pace.
Cost is £3.50 per session. After the first term these sessions are booked for each half term period. A half term coincides with the school terms.
